General Cycling Discussion - Broke 40 miles today!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Yep, last week I posted that I broke 30 miles (here http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=54395), this week I broke 40. I would've done 50 but I ran out of time! I did the ride on my new (to me) late 80's Specialized RockHopper with slicks on it. I rode from my house in Sparks, NV to Verdi, NV and back. The ride includes some freeway(!) riding, and some gnarly climbs.
It was well worth it!
Also I weighed myself today, and have lost 5 lbs (but I've *gained* lots of muscle, and I can tell I've lost fat in the past 2 months, more than 5lbs worth ;-) )
Wish we could have it was hotter than the hubs of Hell today with 90 some odd percent humility (read humidity)
Congrats. Thats some major miles on an MTB

Congrats!
Pretty soon you will be doing centuries on your mtn bike!
(I rode a Specialized HR on Ride the Rockies in 1998 - with slicks - including 84 miles over two high Colorado mtn passes. A lot of folks ride mtn bikes on these rides. However, the next year I rode a road bike! Road bikes ARE easier.)
Congrats!, keep on trucking.

Thanks for the encouragement. It really helps (That's why I post). The hardest part about doing it on my MTB was the gearing... couldn't get past 33mph, my gears were all wound out :)

Hey, I just broke 40 today as well (46). I did a long loop around the reservoirs in San Jose. It was a real workout. Note to self: Remember to apply sunblock next time! I have a bad sunburn today from yesterday's ride.
Congrats guys! I just did my first 50-miles this past weekend during the Tour de Cure - feels great! :) Keep pedaling...

Right on MMPC and seanholio! Nice work. Here's me and my bike. I figured I'd make it more friendly as to not scare people away with my ugly mug....
