Hi all,
I want to decrease the suspension 'bob' on my Brompton. I've tried the jubilee clip technique, but it didn't have as much of an effect as I would like and I didn't really like the way it looked.
I see that others have had success using a green Birdy elastomer on their Bromptons, so:
- Is it a straight swap to fit a Birdy elastomer to a Brompton?
- Where in the UK will sell me one? My LBS can't help and I've Googled to no avail.
Brompton now supply the option of a firmer suspension block for heavier/ sporting use.

Interesting. I just called Brompton, apparently this is available as an option if you order a new Brompton, but it can't be ordered as an aftermarket part yet because the UK based supplier of these elastomers can't produce them fast enough to supply them without starving production.
Damn.

The birdy green elastomer does fit, but you need to file/ream out a small area at one end so that it will fit over a countersunk flange thingie on the retaining bolt. I did this with a scalpel - you don't have to be too exact - just remove enough material so you can get a flush fit. Worth it - the bounce is a lot less. I do believe there is a harder birdy one - yellow perhaps? Or maybe it's the red one?
Anyone remember?
Birdy elastomers are yellow (soooooooft), red (standard), green (hard).

There also is a black elastomer which is harder than the green..

You could try your local branch:

They also sell Birdy folders, so may be able to order a specific part.
HTH,
John
