I'm really pleased with my body transformation since working out with various programs and sports including cycling since 2000. I'm almost surprised and if the light is right I can swear I look as good now as I did when I was 18.

Of course, getting out of bed in the morning is a completely different story!

I'm 55. But when I 'm around people my age I often think "Who are these old people?"
I know I'm not 18, or 28, but people regularly think I'm 10-15 years younger tan I am. And I'm pretty sure it isn't just because I act so immaturely.

At 51 I'm in the best physical shape of my life. No one is ever going to confuse me with being 18 but I shock people that I'm over 50. This seems to be the age of seperation where the majority begin the slide to decay and some of us keep on rolling.

I just turned 50 last month, and I'm regularly taken for 35 - 40. I certainly feel better now than when I was 35 (about 80 lbs ago). I'm not in the best physical shape of my life, but I'm probably close to the best shape I've been in since my late 20's.

I know lots of "younger" people who feel and look horrible. Given my current good health, I'm content to look and feel as I do, regardless of my age.

Since I lost a lot of weight my face has gotten a lot saggier, and I've become more gaunt-looking. It's especially noticeable on the skin under my chin. Oh well:

I ride semi-regularly with a bunch of bicyclists who (I assume) are in the 50-60-70 age group. Compared to them, the other 60 year olds that I know seem OLD.

The more days I ride the better I feel, assuming I don't kill myself on any of the rides.

Funny how that works.

I fill young :) no one thinks I'm as old as I am (53) but one day I jumped from a 12 ft. wall and I knew I wasn't young anymore :50: that landing was much harder than I ever recall in my younger day it was nothing to do that at all. :)
The knees and the jolt when I landed really reminded me not to do that again. :)

I'm in much better shape than at any time in the last 20 years of my life. Physical health definitely sharpens me mentally, and I have fewer stretches of the blues.

I'm sticking with the program.

For me that light is pitch black!

I have a photo of myself and family when I was around 40 - I looked like I was 25. I was in great shape - aerobics 4 times a week and weights 2 days/week and weighed 155 lbs. I wish I looked that good again - but that was then and this is now. Most folks are surprised when I tell them I am 53 but the gray hair is coming fast.

All of us who keep active seem to act and look younger than our age group peers. When I go back to the town I grew up in, I'm amazed at the people who were old at 40 and not, in their 60s, can't imagine doing anything physical.

I've always looked older than I am (came in handy when I was 16 and wanted to buy booze but not so great now). My wife says I'm half the man I was when I started riding a couple of years ago (actually only lost 40 or so lbs. but the loss of weight and the better physical condition have combined to make me a very different person). I guess I'm OK looking older than I am as long as I don't feel/act older than I am. On the positive side, no one will question my wearing a 50+ jersey.

I got carded the other day when I asked for my 55+ discount at one of the local stores, the young lady didn't want to believe until I showed her my drivers lisence. The next store gave me a discount for being a senior 65+,somedays you can't win.

I have gotten some positive remarks from two different doctors, both which kind of surprised me.

A doctor, whom I had never seen before, was giving me a physical when I was around 50 (about five years ago). He commented about me being in what he thought was amazing shape for my age and how few similarly aged people he saw who were in my condition. I have no idea of what the particulars were that impressed him.

A couple of years ago I was getting a physical because of something I wanted checked out, and once again a new doctor commented on my condition. When listening to my chest he said something like "you must be a swimmer, huh?" I told him no, but I commute to work by bike. Apparently whatever he was hearing from my lungs/breathing or my heart was enough to communicate to him that I exercised regularly. It surprised me that he could tell by listening.

I don't think I have any special physical giftedness, I just credit a lot of it to having been fairly active most of my life, with bike commuting about 8 months out of the year for the last four years. Exercise seems designed to help one's body in amazing ways.

Yup, since I retired biking has knocked 15 pounds off and I feel great. I'm 60 and always feel like I couldn't possibly look as old and tired as my peers. But I suspect they may think the same of me. Oh well, who cares :)

wait wait was that body transformation in the right light before you got out of bed?

and yes, after riding for the last year on a daily basis (commuting) I have noticed a difference and more importantly my wife has noticed too. the muscle tone is amazing. truly I never had muscles when I was 18 one of those 125 pound weakling bodies. I was active just no muscle to show for it. Now at 150 pounds I have more mass to work with? definitely seeing a difference (come on 6 pack abs.... I know you're in there...)

Most people I meet guess I'm around 45 (I'm 58), and I feel like I'm in much better shape than I was in my late 30's-- I don't smoke or drink alchohol now- and haven't for many years, and so glad I don't. The price alone of cigarettes would make me quit now, and alcohol is something best left alone by me.

I'll be 56 next week and I feel it but that doesn't stop me from riding in fact I feel better when I'm riding the bike than when I'm walking. I have knee back and neck issues including carpal tunnel in both wrists. A few aches and pains didn't stop my grandfather who worked a 100 acre farm till he was well into his 70's he didn't however have to stand on a concrete floor for 35 years either but I digress. The funniest thing that happened to me since I have been riding was last summer when a carfull of teenage girls or at least they looked like teenagers yelled at me " hey man nice a*& " when I caught them at the light I looked over and winked and said "Ladies we all know thats not true but you made this old mans day" We all had a good laugh and went on our way. The one girl ask me how old I was and when I told her she said her dad was younger than me and he didn't do anything to excercise and she was gonna tell him he should get a bike and ride it. Hope she did and I really hope he did.

I am 56 years old and look younger like I am in my 40' since I started biking and lost 90 pounds in the last year. I owe it all to biking. Right now I ride about 100 to 125 miles a week and will do more as summer gets here. I use to ride all the time in the 90's but stopped and got fat and lazy. But I am back now.

I feel so much better than I have felt in a long time at its all because of biking and weight loss (biking played a major role in the weight loss). I just want to ride as much as I can. I am now getting ready to do a century this summer like I use to do.

At six days shy of 58 I've noticed that the more miles I put in, the better (younger) I feel. Once again there is spring in my step and I can actually go from the basement to our third floor bedroom without stopping for a nap somewhere in between. Now that a few ounces of fat have disappeared I'm even sleeping better, and longer. Of course it doesn't take long for all these benefits to wither away if I stop riding...I know this fact due to personal experience. I've actually repeated the cycle several times so I know it to be true.

With my white beard and fringe of long white hair I look older than dirt, but I'm not wrinckled yet. Now if I could just figure out if all the attention is due to my marvelous self or the funny looking bikes I ride....hmmmm.

My wife and I went to a welcome home party for a friend who just came back from IRAQ. He's in his early 40's and his other friends were mostly late 30's and early 40's. My wife and I both thought they seemed closer to our age (50 and 51 at the time). As long as I don't grow a beard I look a few years younger than my age. [as the pic from beard month last fall proves] Dropping another 30 lbs should help.

Feel like a younger person than my 54 years? Often, especially around kids. I'm kid sized myself, and often get pulled into games of tag and wrestling at family gatherings because the kids know I'm up for it. I love it. Cycling (and being physically active in general) has definitely kept some, if not all, the years away.

Oops! I may have regressed a little bit. While tooling along the road this afternoon on my way to work at a very relaxed 18mph on the Volae I spied a pair of Teenie Boppers walking towards me over on the sidewalk. As I passed by I recieved a chorus of "Go Grandpa, Go!"

I guess I feel a tad bit older now. :(
