Hi, Im building up a frame right now and are using some older dura-ace 8spd components. I don't have a front derailluer so Im having to get it off of ebay or wherever. With the older 8spd drivetrain can I use a more modern dura-ace FD, or do I have to search for an older one of the same vintage? Its rather difficult finding one on ebay that is braze-on AND 8spd. Thanks

A newer brazed-on model should work, you can adjust the course of a 9spd front derailleur to suit an 8 spd. Coincidently, I was looking at this earlier: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=58094&item=3682016772&rd=1, would this be what you are looking for ?

A 9-speed derailer has a slightly narrower cage but you may still be able to adjust it to work. If the Dura-Ace 8 speed FD gets too expensive, a SORA 8 speed should work well.
