Hi,
My partner and I are in the middle of a bike tour, in Portland right now and heading to Astoria in a few days. We're planning to go via the Banks-Vernonia trail and then along highway 202. It looks like a really nice route. The only problem is that we tend to be relatively slow on our (heavily loaded) bikes, averaging about 40 miles per day so far, which means we are going to have to do the route in a couple of days. I have a set of maps that says we can camp at Big Eddy County Park but after that it looks pretty empty.
We don't mind camping in the woods or in some empty spot off the highway but we would rather not do it if there are bears in the woods. It looks like a lot of forest and mountain and not much else once you get past Birkenfeld or so. Can you tell me what we're going to find along this highway?
Thanks
