Alt Bike Culture - Endo or Stoppie?

What is it? I say Endo and my friend calls it a stoppie. We looked it up in wikipedia and endo redirects you to stoppie. But its wikipedia. I know in bmx the people I hung out with called it and endo and that's what I remember it always being. I know in the moto world they refer to it as a stoppie. So I figured what better place to get this resolved than right here on the bike forums . net. I'm not asking for a personal army just a personal opinion. This is one of the place i know I can count on getting an opinion. Thanks guys. :thumb:

i guess it really depends on which one you mean.
in the motorcycling world, an endo is when you take a stoppie too far. it's called an endo because you go endoverend... endo.

I have never heard of the Stoppie thing but have heard of endo....and when I did something bad as a child that is where I got kicked.

I say endo, but I also recognize stoppie.

I'm prolly wrong on this, but *I* thought an endo was some kinda WRECK, and a stoppie was a stop on the front wheel with the back end going up off the ground. Don't rely on me tho. I learn some of my terms from playing grand theft auto. :)

Endo has a double meaning:

END-Over-end is what the bike does,

ENDOmetrial, is what the doctor calls the resulting brain-damage.

Either way, it's called an ENDO.

an endo is when you hit the front brake and come to a complete stop. when your doing a stoppie you hut the front brake just hard enough to get up to the balance point and from then onn you feather it so that you roll on only the front wheel as you would do in a wheelie.

Though they were the same thing.

Stoppie = reverse wheelie (front wheelie)

Endo = a stoppie gone too far, resulting in crash

The Wikipedia entry for "Stoppie" says:

"The term endo refers to a crash where the rider flips over the handlebars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Handlebar), end over end (hence the name)."

So "stoppie" is a successful stunt that looks cool. An "endo" is when you go over the bars and crash.

Completely agree, this is what i have always thought.

Where I come from, that's just called "braking."

I learned my terms from Project Gotham Racing, a stoppie is when you STOP completely and your rear wheel goes up. An endo is when you make your rear wheels go up, whether you use the brake lightly or not, but for it to be an endo you must keep moving. But this is for motorcycle reference.
