Well we headed off to the Eastern Sierras to do the Eastern Sierra Double, but the weather went crazy and they changed the whole route up. It ended up being harder than the original route.
We rode through some brutal conditions on the last part of the first big climb and all they way down the STEEP descent. There was freezing cold rain, hail, and some snow (that didn't stick thankfully). The rest of the ride had good weather.
We got a new go-pro Camera, that we mounted on the handlebars.
Here is the route (not my data, I finished 15 minutes after):

2:06 a nice shot of the tandem fork and Marco's feet
3:01 sunny descent on Death Valley/Wacuba Road
Lots of descending video... Notice me flashing the "5" when I pass 50 mph. I was just having a bit of fun. Nearly 1/2 of this video is around 50mph!

Wow, very cool stuff! Thanks for posting that. We rode those same rodes on our Motorcycle about 7 years ago. I need to make plans to get back there, this time we will tow our Tandem behind our Goldwing.

My friend did that one, said it was brutal.
I think he finished a little behind you.

USPSPRO,
We did the ride also, (our 50th double).:thumb: We were on the red como robusta and visited with you briefly at lunch. We sure caught all facets of the weather that day. Great ride though.
I wondered what you had mounted on your bars. Great video, thanks for posting it.

Cool! Congrats on your 50th double.
This was our 2nd. Our first was Devil Mountain Double earlier this year.
Our 3rd will be Mt Tam Double for our Triple Crown this year.
The camera works pretty good, and doesn't really get in the way or anything. It's also very light/waterproof/shock proof.
I need some rain-X for the casing, so help sheet the water off.

Nice work! (both video and ride). 12k of climbing in one day... wow. That's 6 times the amount we plan to do this saturday and that too at a grinding pace.

DMD as your 1st double? You surely jumped into the deep end of the pool right off the bat. Congrats to you too! We've done it twice and it was just as hard the 2nd time as it was the 1st.
Have a great ride at Mt. Tam, we might see you there.

What type of camera are you using for the video and where can you buy bike mounts for a camera?
Great video. I like the idea of being able to share parts of your ride with others.

Go-Pro Hero Wide Angle with bike mount kit. The bike mount kit has mounts for seat stays (rear facing) or handle bars (front facing).
There is also a helmet mount, which I do not like as much as the on-bike mounts.
So we purchased the Camera kit w/out the helmet mount (a little cheaper), the bike mount kit, and the 2GB SD card.
Here are the links:

$139.99 (or $169 with helmet mounts)

You guys are so smooth! Love the shots from that lsat swoopy descent.
Still, I can't help thinking how much faster and smoother you'd be if your frame weren't that crappy steel stuff. ;)
Ride on!

Can the bike mount be used with a standard video camera or is it for their camera only? I have a small digital video camera I would like to use. It has the standard tri-pod mount, will this bike mount attach in the same way a tri-pod does from the bottom with 1 screw in?
Thanks

Nope.
These ones are specially designed for the go pro. The mounts actually attach to the water/shock proof casing around the camera.
You could probably try something like this:
