I guess CBS isn't showing their useless tour coverage? Phew.
I'm actually getting digital cable just so i can watch the Tour. That's great news...more coverage.

You'll get to see a hell of a lot of bull riding on OLN as well. I have yet to see one of those at an "outdoor" venue, but apparently the audience is there. Not sure why it is so popular. Would much rather watch more racing.

I just did that tooo....had OLN last year then it was cancelled, so we got the digital stuff...OH YEA...

PJLucky me. I get OLN with basic cable
I noticed that it appears Kirsten Gum is being demoted for the tour. Al Trautwig is going to be in the studio with Bob Roll and Kirsten's been relegated to doing "feature" segments (probably just fluff, up-close-and-personal type stuff). I'm not sure this is much of an improvement. Al T. doesn't seem to know too much about cycling either.
Ok, purely conjecture and WAG (wild a$sed guess)
but I think she is getting pulled from coverage due to the
fact she is pregnant. All of her spots have probably been taped
already (kind of like the wine tour and chateau crap we watched
last year).
This would also explain her (hmmm, how can I put this delicately and
not offend. . ?) increase in bust size (does that work?), and increase
in general girth (she has looked a bit "thick" to me).
shame as she was actually getting to the point where
she knew what she was talking about.
Hey, its a good story. . . :D

I think she's being pulled from the TDF because she's an idiot and knows nothing about cycling.
How hard can it be to find an female ex-racer to replace her for good?

I don't know, she didn't inform me that it wasn't.
Like a pregnant woman can't comment on sports? I guess they think it looks kind of odd, but who knows- maybe it's HER idea. SHe may want less to do because she's pregnant and gets pooped! You can't keep up the same schedule in that condition. Off the topic a bit, has anyone seen Soledad O'Brien on CNN?She's expecting twins and is probably going to be leaving soon. She is huge- Iwonder how the poor woman gets out of her chair.
ANyways I wish they'd find someone who knows something about cycling. Maybe when LA retires he'll do commentary.

9-11 am or pm???I don't know. What time zone are you in?
wabbit,
as I said, its just wild asssed guess and speculation.
I do think she could do the commentary, but if she was
"showing" early season, July might be a bit uncomfortable to be
doing that. Just a thought.
I'll leave off the crass, sarcastic remarks about pregnancy etc.
just gets me into more trouble. . .
Marty
As much as it would be nice to have two experts in the studio, this is not a generally accepted formula for TV. Producers want an everyman, or in this case, everywoman to ask the expert dumbass questions for the benefit of viewers that may not live and breathe cycling.

There are such things as programable VCRs which start the tape at a certain time, right?

I HATE COMCAST! I can't get OLN at all! Not even with their superhappysmilefungiveusyourfirstborn digital cable package!! And I live in an apartment so satellite is out of the question! :fight:
Maybe they'll air the Tour coverage over CSPAN2 like they did last year then turn it off as soon as the coverage is over for the day, for the same hours every day which will make me miss their extended coverage on certain days.
I'm gonna go pout some more

That sucks. I have Comcast here in TX and got OLN w/ the Basic Digital package. I wonder if you could request it?

didnt they do 3 or 4 hours of daily live coverage during the weekdays last year?

you surely don't think Lance would be good in the broadcast booth. Have you heard his delivery in those subaru ads? how about that segment that Paul and Phil did with him after the Tour. Ouch. I guess if he was with Bobke he could play the straight man feeding Bob the set ups for his humor, but I just don't see it.

Unless he devotes himself to broadcasting like he's devoted himself to cancer research, and le Tour. Then obviously, anything's possible.
... Was that worship? Perhaps. :D
