Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - single speed friendly lbs recommendations for seattle?

a friend of mine just moved up to seattle and decided it would be in his best interest to purchase a bicycle. duh. well, he has now decided that a single speed would be a good idea too. duh. the problem is that he is not overly mechanically inclined when it comes to bicycles. i told him as best as i could what he should do to convert his bike and suggested he get the read on on sheldon brown, but also recommended he just take his rear wheel to a shop to have the freehub body pulled off and have it re-dished and respaced for single speed use. are there any shops in seattle that i could refer him to that are single speed friendly? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. oh yeah... dumptruck. and a junkyard too. hiyah!

What part of the city does he live in? If in West Seattle then I'd suggest he visit Val Kleitz at Aaron's, In Fremont or Ballard check out Free Range Cycles or Wright Brothers (both in Fremont). In the University district, talk to Scott at R&E and if he's downtown, stop in at Counterbalance.

Charles at Wright Bros offers a sweet deal. For a one-time fee of $30.00 he has a shop (with 5 bike repair stands, tools, wheel truing stands, etc.) that is free to use. The place is very cool.....as is Charles.
