Hi! I'm new to biking after just realizing how much I enjoy cycling. I am trying to get new tires for my bike but I am not sure which ones to go with. The tires on my bike are currently 26 x 1.95. Would it be okay to put on 26 x 1.85? Thanks for your help!

Yup. That'll be fine.

Yes.
Personally, I'd make the move to 2.1's.
What type of riding are you doing?

You can safely mount any 26 X x.xx (decimal sized 26 tire), provided the tire is wider than the rim and is not too wide to fit in the frame.
Tires marked in fractional sizes (like 26X1-3/8 or 26X1-1/2) will not fit at all, but these tires are uncommonm - you can get the appropriate 26X2.1 or 26X1.85 or 26X1.5 etc at any bike store or Mega-Lo-Mart or the like.
