I'm not Wings fan, that's for sure. In fact I'm a bit sick of them winning the Cup while my Blues wallow in mediocrity from decade to decade. Screw the Wings! :p
One thing that cracks me up.... reading sportswriters who write about how a Wings Stanley Cup win would just mean so much in uplifting the down in the dumps state of Michigan. Seriously, WTF? I mean, if four Cups in the last 11 years didn't fix the Big Three, what's one more going to do? I mean, besides all the burning/overturned cop cars that will need to be replaced, that is. ;)

Now now there. The Pistons have won a championship this decade, have they not? No griping.
Well Motowners, even Chris "Big Mouth" Chelios has enough sense to sit out tonights game. This guy does not want to finish off his career with a at home spanking.
Hey Fred.... I just posted the Michigan Mountain Mayhem on my http://BikeFitness.net/community forums under Rides...
Hey... is this the route where "The Wall" is? I did the DALMAC last year and all I remember were hills from Boyne City on... big hills. But "The Wall" killed me. Got 3/4 up and made the mistake of standing to mash up.... rear wear then came off ground because of steepness and by the time I sat down I had no momentum. Anxious to do it right this time.
What's the grade of "The Wall?"
This is going to be an awesome event... a noble goal. I like that there's a year to get ready. Winter spinning classes here I come!
Game over, all is right in America tonight.
Cycling will be a bit more enjoyable in Ohio tomorrow.
next year,
GO BLUEJACKETS!

Steeltown rules! Detroit sucks dead wings...lol
Chelios is a former Blackhawks player from years back. He should of had enough sense to finish out his career in Chicago.

I'm never shy to say that I grew up just outside "Da Burgh". I just don't see the Buc's making it a hat trick this year.

pcmike thanks for posting the ride on that site.
As far as the dalmac and what you remember about hills. Well the dalmac avoids the big ones all except the wall. If you like hills you need to do this ride.
The Wall peaks at 18% and comes at the end of the metric and at the end of the full century. If you do the double metric you will see a hill that hits 20%.
Now as far as the f'in wings..... AAAAARRRRGHGHGH!
Are you the "Fred" Ryan keeps mentioning to ride with when he is home on leave?
Hard to believe there are MORE and steeper hills up there... I though that day we rode the Wall was pretty amazing. Had no idea Michigan had such grades.
I think this race/ride is going to be huge, Fred.
I'll keep talking it up on http://BikeFitness.net/community

Yes! I rode with him once last year. In fact it was the first time I rode the full century for the Michigan Mountain Mayhem. I posted the ride here on BF and no one wanted to ride except ryanf who answered on his blog.
Here is the ride report from the mountain goat himself.....
I got to the meeting place and waited for a little while for “fred” to get there. I didn’t have to wait long. He got his bike out showed me the route on the map and gave me a few bars.
We left and start the first climb. He was riding really slow. I rode behide him for a while then he wanted me to lead. I took it easy , he told me at the start that if he was going too slow to ride ahead if i wanted too but i didn’t want to ride alone.
I was getting tired at half way already but fred never seemed to get tired and after he warmed up he road pretty fast. There were tons of hills. This is the toughest route i have ever ridden. We stoped at mile ~84 and ate. I usully eat a lot but i could not eat all the food. after eating i felt great the rest of the way.
I do have to say he seemed like a good kid and was a descent rider.

I wish that I could imitate Nelson "Ha Ha Hockeytown"!
Fred,I,m concerned about the "moutan of a man."He stated that after leave he is scheduled to go to The Big Sandbox.I wish him a safe return to the states.
