Southern California - BIKE AUCTIONS in or near Long Beach

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Anyone in the general vicinity, whether you're IN Long Beach, or somewhere in LA or OC, I'd really appreciate any information that leads me to the doors of a bike auction! I dont care if it is factory surplus, police impound, or school impound, but any auction would be better than what I'm doin now! I need several specific bikes, but I dont have a wholesale license (good-condition Used is just fine) and I'm tired of driving all over the place to check out a private seller's cheap bike only to find out I'd be getting only my money's worth.

I need some source of good quality, cheap bikes.

Any suggestions??

I think CSULB auctions off bikes every 2 years from the bikes they impound from being locked up where they're not supposed to and never get picked up. Try calling the university police department and ask them about it.

Not familiar with anything else in the area to be honest.

LAPD is online, (http://www.propertyroom.com/Catalog.aspx?Category=Bicycles&CategoryId=347) but maybe you know that already...

thats not just LAPD, thats actually most of the PDs in the area, including parts (if not all) of OC. I've been calling the PDs and asking. =)

What sucks about that website is that they do too many bulk-lots. I dont want to buy a half or full dozen bikes that I cant even see... they pile them all together and then take a bunch of pictures from one angle. ********! I'd rather bid on specific bikes rather than take my chances on the nonsense. They call 'em "parts bikes" just because they're not Schwinns or some other big name.
