Found a new mint Aprilia Enjoy ebike at a garage sale for $20. No key and no charger. Aprilia (Italian Co) offers no chargers here in the US and I can't find a scematic. I need advice on getting this baby charged.

I jumped the key switch, so I can get the circuits on/off at will,
I test jumped the motor and it's powerfull and kicks hard. The motor is 24 VDC ,
The batteries are two series of 12V Ni-MH in parallel and are good I think since this unit is like new.
The charger input is a 3 pin female XLR with red lead on pin 1 (lower left), a lighter gauge white wire on pin three (the center pin), and a green and a black wire both attached to pin 2 (lower right). Looking down at the XLR plug the wiring is as follows:
XLR Pin# (3) - White
Red - (1) ......(2) - Green and Black (two wires)
I can't remove the battery to see how the battery is tapped due to the missing key, which also deadbolts the battery in place. I may just sell the bike if I can't get it going myself, so I don;t want to damage it.
I bought a 24 volt NiMH charger with three leads and tried charging the batteries by providing 24 v across pin 1-3 and 1-2, but the bike's controller started freaking out (overcharge beep) at just over 12-24volts so I suspect the batteries are tapped to provide 12 volts to the controller??? I quickly discharged the batteries by jumping to the motor to avoid damaging either the controller or battery. The controller came back to life fine at around 12 Volts on the battery.
So here I am needing any advise you electrical ebike geniuses can offer.
