just thinking about one particular chain on my MTB that is a total disgrace - I'll get a picture up soon, but does anyone want to share a pic of their chain disgrace?

Bike mechanics always have the dirtiest chains. Can't show you mine though - batteries in my camera just died.

I don't think so.

Bike mechanics' chains may not be pristine but I've had to replace some customer chains that were so utterly cruddy that I didn't even want to touch it with my pliers.

wow, those closeups show some unusual defects, or damage

I guess this thread can also be used to show newly cleaned chains too ...

Here's a pin from the most worn chain I've ever seen. It was worn a whopping 3/8" over 12" of chain. I consider a 1/16th wear time for a new chain.

This chain was so bad that (of course) the chainrings as well as the cassette were toast. The chainrings were so bad (just stubby teeth left) that the guy had gone OTB (over the bars) when he stood up to pedal and the chain skipped on the big ring.
