I picked up one of these yesterday for $10. It's a little ugly, probably form the early 70's, but it's a nice ride. My son declared it "ghetto", which I'm pretty sure is a good thing these days!

Wipe off the rear hub. Look for a two-digit number. That's the year it was built.

What color? If it's the old '60s black finish, that's oil paint. You can shine it up with some old car oil (or veg oil, or grease from your hair, or whatever...). Anything missing (mudguards, chain guard, etc.)?

Good price, if it's in good shape. I paid $15 for a Sports at a yard sale a coupla years ago. '75 silver, women's frame (bought it for my wife).

It's apparently a '67 according the inscription on the hub. By and by, a good year for all things English.

Mine's a funky pea green, rather than black. A bit dented up, but she has all her pieces.

You've got a good one, hopefully it has the Brooks leather saddle which is more than worth your price all on its own. Black was "the" color for most. I pushed a black 69 Sports all over the Portland, OR area back in the 80s when I was in grad school. Paid $35.00 & sold it in 1990 for $35.00. Dumbest thing I ever did, shoulda kept it just for the memories! Don

It has the original Brooks saddle with two large springs in the rear. It came covered with a foam pad, on which is printed "Tush Cush." Embarassing, but comfortable. I learned from an old catalog that the color is "Bronze Green."

One problem: I get a bit of a squeak when I push down on the left pedal...I continue my expiditionary oiling...
