Bicycle Mechanics - Rear derailleur cable stop issue

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I have a mid 80's Raleigh and the cable stop on the chain stay is round and only large enough to put a cable in, no room for housing.
I am including a pic of my Schwinn which has no issue. The housing fits in with no end cap on it.
I tried putting the housing in the hole but the tension just started to strip the housing off.
Any ideas?
Well, what's the question?
I'd say the only problem with your Raleigh is that the housing forces an angle with the stop and will make it tend to bind and wear. Try re-cutting the housing to make it parallel to the chainstay. If necessary you can use a tie-wrap to hold it in place.

There are housing end ferrules with a small diameter extension that would fit into the cable stop on your Raleigh. They look like this:
