Here is a little route put together by your's truly.

The stats are:
Apx 103 miles
Apx 12,070 feet of climbing.

The route is basically as follows:

- Start at the School on Krik near the base of Hamilton
- Take the side streets with a little warmup climb over to Qumiby
- Up Quimby
- Continue up the front side of Hamilton
- Near the top, go up Kinkaid to the gate and back
- Down the back side of Hamilton
- Take Del Puerto Canyon Rd to Adobe Canyon Rd
- Ride Adobe Canyon Rd until you have to turn around (not sure how far you can go, but that's part of the fun). :) Also, they have free natural spring water, everyday 24/7 except Saturday. Check this out: http://www.mgwater.com/adobe.shtml and http://www.pmgeiser.ch/mineral/index.php?func=disp&parval=76
- Ride back to the Junction of Del Puerto/San Antonio Valley for lunch at the Junction Cafe.
- After lunch, up the back side of Hamilton
- Down the front side, as usual.

Here is the Bikely:

Any takers??

I cannot do this Saturday due to the Pescadero RR.

Looks like a fun route. If this happened on June 20 I'd definitely make it.

Edit: I'd be riding from home and would meet up at the base of Quimby to avoid 8 junk miles of backtracking

June 20 looks like a good candidate. Unless I decide to do the Diablo TT thing.

Sure. I wouldn't mind doing it again.

I will probably do it sooner than that as well.

20th is Terrible Two day so NY Chris and I are out. This Sunday would be a good last minute training ride for TT.

I might be down for Sunday, if my legs are OK.. right now they are still crazy sore from that damn hike.

That road race might be the knife in the heart for me, but we will see I guess.

Can't do this Sunday as I'm doing the oddball ride. 6/21 is Father's day so doing family stuff.

If it doesn't work out for 6/20 then I will probably do a ride closer to home that day such as the Umunhum-Mt. Madonna-Corralitos-Eureka Canyon loop I had planned a while back.

I can do this ride again maybe when everyone is less busy.

So when is everyone in the clear... more like July?

I can't do the 27th due to our wedding.

I am still down to try it this Sunday. So far Ramon is available... anyone else??

What do you all think?

I could do Sunday at 7am or next weekend. I may opt to skip Quimby and just meet you up Hamilton, as I lack the desire to destroy my little remaining knee integrity.

My vote is for next weekend. There's no better way to get back in-shape after a week's worth of beer and schnitzel.

This weekend is no good, but I'd be down for some derivative of this route if this happened next weekend (I may skip some part of the "scenic detours" to keep my legs from revolting on the wrong side of the hill :twitchy:).

Ive ridden here before and you don't actually have to go off road to get the spring water, I think that road is so they can truck out the water, after you finish the steep descent its right on the side of the road, ive never gone past there but I guess if you were feeling adventurous you could keep going :D

Put me down as a maybe for this or next weekend. Me and my buddy Dave (sjcetape) where thinking about riding to the junction and back this weekend, proposed ride will add a bit more mileage (35 miles).

Not sure about making the Sunday ride so I'm planning to ride an out and back to the Junction on this Saturday. No extra side roads for me. I'm meeting SJetape at 8am Saturday at the school on Kirk Ave, let me know if anyone wants to join us.

I was thinking of getting to the school by 8am, but did not leave home until 7:30, and it took me another 1:30 to ride there. There were a few sprinkles, but the clouds were gone by the time I hit the climb. There was some fog at the peak, and Canyon Classic riders were having lunch at the Observatory. Decided to descend the back and have lunch at The Junction Cafe. The ride was fun, temperature constantly shifting in the inner valleys between low 70's and high 80's depending on the clouds and wind direction. The final climb back to Hamilton was tough, I decided to take it easy as I wasn't sure how steep it was going to get. The observatory was relatively deserted this time, and a pesky headwind slowed me down on the way back home. 9600', 120 mi, but a fun ride. Would like to do it again...

After riding just the out and back, this route is going to be a killer with the addition of Quimby/Kincaid/D.P. Hope it's not blazing hot.

Is this ride on for tomorrow or not? If so I will join it (riding to/from the start). Otherwise I will do a loop like this one starting at my house (102 miles, 10k elevation):

I along with a friend that lives in Livermore are starting from his place. We'll be riding clockwise going up the backside, then going up Sierra, down Calaveras through Sunol, and into Livermore again. Should be a groovy 100 miler.

To beat the heat, wheels are rolling at 6:30am.

Ben,

Maybe me. I'll decide tonight. Can you pm with a phone number? I'll txt you once I get it.

Or maybe I'll see you at the SB shopping party. we can talk over boxes of powerbars and gel.

I don't have the time to do the whole route, but I can tag along to the top of Hamilton or maybe to the bridge on the back depending on the time. Either day is fine with me.

Think I'll pass on tomorrow; jet lag's starting to kick-in so I'll spend Sunday sleeping-in.

Maybe we re-schedule this after Death Ride?
