Has anyone here done this event? Thinking about doing it this year. Might be fun.

Great! Let's meet up.
Chris is signing us up as I type. We're excited about this; he's never done a crit or a road race, and I've never done them tandem. This looks like a really fun adventure.
Merlin, are you combining this with more riding / vacation / touring? Long way away for just the event.
I'm going to run it by the stoker and see what she says.
What classes did you folks register in?

We're signing up for the B classes. I've raced in every event on a half-bike; Chris has only competed on the tandem in TTs.
This should be very interesting. :innocent:

We'll be in the B's. I'm a Cat 4, and my stoker hasn't really raced before. Also, we're 100+
Crit on tandems should be interesting.
We are making a vacation around it. Few day on the Coast, Wine Country, and a couple of days in Portland.

Too many other things going on this year... Wish we could make it :(

I have never raced a crit so we are definitely a B. We are 110+ so I guess we have a few years on you. All I have ever raced is TT's. Deborah has raced all three so she is the more experienced. We are probably going to make it the Thursday through Monday. Have you a place to stay in Eugene yet?

That's to bad. You guys are getting married and all that other stuff so it's understandable. The weekend of the Classic is also our 28th wedding anniversary weekend. We have been together almost 30 years now. Seems like only yesterday:love: This is our anniversary present to each other.

Regarding the Crit for Tandems, it sounded like a pretty 'exciting' new 'opportunity' when we looked at the event last year......But...and you may want to double check this, I am 99% sure there was no crit for Tandems at last year's race..just the TT and road race even though a Crit was originally scheduled.
It may be different this year or my memory may be a bit questionable which has been known to happen all to frequently. Either way it should be a real fun event ..hope you guys have fun!

LOL!
Actually we registered at Calfee... no joke
We asked friends and family to call and donate to our "registry account" at Calfee in lieu of $300 salt shakers and $200 picture frames, and the like.
They (Calfee) have actually done this before too for at least one other couple!

Valley River Inn. Frommers was high on it. Trip Advisor reviews were lousy though. There aren't a lot of choices in Eugene from what I saw.

If it isn't fun it won't be done...thus spake the stoker. ;)
Just getting away will be fun...crit or no crit, racing with other tandems is bound to be fun (from a racer's perspective) because the only races we've ever done on the tandem have been TTs. Then there are the crazy-fast group rides featuring tandemonium; fun but worrisome as you don't know if the half-bikes are worthy to hold your wheel without overlapping it.
A tandem-only event sounds like a blast. And I'll do my stokerly duty and take as many pictures as I can.
