I am looking to do Mt. Hamilton this coming Friday. My plan is to strart from my place up in the Redwood City area, going up to the top, then backtracking home. So what do people recommend? Are there water stops along the way? Is it a camel back day? Anyone want to go with me? This is my first time up the mountain, but it needs to be done.

So yes, let me know if you want to join me this friday or at least you have some tips for the ride.

Whee, that's a pretty long ride from RWC! How do you plan to get to Hamilton?

Yep, it will be around 100 miles. This would be my first 100miler. I figured that making it Mt. Ham would be memorable. I was thinking of taking the bike blvd through Palo Alto, Central expressway, onto Trimble, and winding over to the base of the mountain.

So are there places I can get water partway up the mountain?

Sounds like a fun ride but I have to work tomorrow. You could always take caltrain back from San Jose as a bailout option especially if the wind is really blowing like it usually does in the afternoon. There is water partway up the mountain at Joseph D Grant county park which is about 7.5 miles from the base. There's water at the top too.

Ok, sweet, thanks. I am doing the distance because I am getting my milage and elevation up for the Livestrong Challenge in about a month. No bailout option for me!
