I need a road bike to get in my training for XC racing. The bike won't be raced, and I need to spend long times in the saddle.

Suggestions? Thanks.

Would that fit the bill?

What size bike do you ride? If a 58cm is OK, then THIS (http://www.getawaybikes.com/Detail.cfm?Categoryid=33&BrandID=11&ProductID=932&CFID=3903443&CFTOKEN=97635888#) has to be the best deal out there.

Downside is ... you can't ride it before you buy it (unless you're in Florida) and you should probably set aside an additional ~$50 to be fitted by your LBS.

I train on a Giant OCR 1. It's right around the $1000-1200 dollar range with 105/Ultegra. I like it a lot, and I spend lots of loooong hours in the Aliante' saddle (purchased separately).

If you can find a '04 Lemond Buenos Aires for around $1500 their frame geometries are up your alley. Dog gone comfortable bike.
