Thanks Herb,

But this implies that you aren't riding The Bear? Say it isn't true!

I plan to roll out about 7am; Is 110 PSI good @ 8900'? I normally run 125 PSI, but don't want my tire to explode!

I will be there on my tandem with a new stoker. She was 2nd overall Woman in the King of the Mountain Series. This should be fun, the weather looks to be perfect. I know Alex and Deya will kick our butts, we are looking for a time around six and a half hours. See Ya out there

You're right Alice, Beanz likes bagels instead!

In this case, however, Beanz rides The Bear powered by Bagels, so it all works out (thanks to Gina, of course!). And Beanz  Gina!

My wife rode The Bear last year, and even then didn't give me any bagels! No worries, though, I was fine with the OCW rest-stop food. Plus, of course, I  Jackie with or without bagels :)!

Beanz is a fast climber, and I know all the forumites who ride The Bear will be working to try to ride as well Beanzer!

GHAAAAAH! Rick, the only time I climb fast is when I ride with you after one of your double centuries!:D

After doing GMR to the shack a few times, watching Grrly scale the mtn like a goat (in a good way), and tales of Jacky conquering the Bear, she's actually considering doing The Bear next year!....:thumb:

She realizes that she would need to drop weight, do more climbing but after doing the Mtn, she knows she "CAN" climb. Not "race climb", but "make it climb". I hope so, that would be great!:D

Either way it's cool as she's gained confidence on the mtn. That means more GMR rides this summer and maybe all year!:thumb:

BTW, I'm not ascared of bears Alice, it's the lion types (like Condorita [in a good way]) that ascare me!:p

Excellent Beanz!

That would be great if Gina rode The Bear next year. Jackie couldn't make it this year because she's in Lincoln, NE grading the national AP Chem tests for a week. It's an honor for an AP teacher to be picked as a grader, but not as much fun (in my opinion) as riding The Bear!

Anyway, yes, looking forward to having Gina join you on The Bear next year!

What a wet slog of a ride this was! I spent 20 minutes @ Snow Valley trying to dry out my kit so I wouldn't get hypothermic! I think visibility was below 100 feet in certain spots.

Having not done a lick of training specific to this ride, I felt great (never felt the altitude really). Just cruised on up in easy gears (39x23,25 @ 7-9 MPH on the steep stuff). With rest stops, I came in @ 7 hours, 43 minutes. Felt really good at the end, perhaps tomorrows criterium won't be a disaster after all! I think I preferred the climbing, it was more comfortable than the descents.

Interesting ride. I suggested to MANY of the workers that there be signs for the route next time. At least in Redlands. Very cold to start. Dang headwinds coming down the mountain. Will have to look at my total ride time.

Are you sure you mean Condorita?

There was a fairly recent cougar sighting on a BF ride! You didn't hear about that?

But don't worry, it was down south. I'm not sure her range extends to OC/LA...:D
