A better picture would help. :)
Vintage = ca. 1982 (I know what the 1980 decal set looks like, and your bike predates aero brake cabling.)
Please identify frame tubing (531 3 tubes? full 531? Vitus?)
Please identify crankset (Campag. Victory/Triomphe? Stronglight?)
Please identify brakes and hubs.

The HLE is a Peugeot propriatary tubing, used on the lower end of the Peugeot line. It replaced the Carbolite 103, which replaced the "Tube Special Allegre Peugeot". You might check the following sites for more specific info. As John E states, your bike is sometime in the eighties, no earlier.

Although your bike is not a PX, there is some very handy information about reading the serial numbers on the second page. The serial numbers should be on the bottom of the bottom bracket shell.

Your bike is likely a fine ride. Enjoy.

That was the type of Peugeot that they sold to Americans in the early 1980's. Not good for the French market.

On the ClassicRendezvous website, the serial number used as the model year 1980 example, B 0667631, is that of my PKN-10. Several years ago, I submitted it to the webmaster of the original PX-10 site when inquiring about the age and model designation of my Peugeot. He's the one who told me about the first digit of the serial number being the last digit of the year of production. I never did find out whether the initial "B" means. Since the site mentions only "Y" or "B," I presume it does not mean "February," ala Schwinn. I do not know whether it denotes the PKN-10 (PR-10 in the early 1970s) model.

A better picture would really help

Is that a Nervar aluminum crankset?
Shimano 600 derailleurs, Vitus frame with "Vitus" marked near the rear derailleur, Weinmann Type 500 brakes marked 1982 (maybe 1984), with brake levers marked 22-24 (but you probably can't see it because of the red tape), Shimano pedals, Maillard hubs marked something like 40 85 rear, 15 84 front, Suntour 6 speed cassette with a plastic transparent disk, Sachs shifters.

Maybe I'm off course but it really looks like my bike and I would also like to identify it. If it is not to much to ask please let me know. Thank you.
