Probably a really stupid question, but I saw a kid today on a super ghetto single speed scraper bike. He had all the rims covered and taped off the "hole" between the seat, top, and down tubes.

On a track or something, would the ghetto disc wheels and whatnot help in any way?

This is a half-way serious question.

yes very gayero...er

on a similar note...kind of...i saw a dude last summer with a complete (home-made) foamcore aero bodykit wrapped around what looked to be a bianchi pista. in his defense tho, foamcore IS light lol. but it looked effin ridiculous.

I am not sure just what a scraper bike is but if it is anything like the video posted the main answer is NO. just putting tape or whatever on the wheels does not give a boost in aero dynamics. also if you are participating a sanctioned track even under USCF (is it still called that?) or UCI rules I think they still ban not structural areo equipment. a full disc wheel like a mavic comet ot the old Campi Ghibli wheels, but you cannot take a standard wheel and cover the spokes to make it areo.

I assume if they were done carefully they would reduce drag.
