good day all ...
still using my rather bulky and nosiy and hot mountain biking helmet from years past. i can't hear anything but wind noise at anything over 14mph and it is rather warm here in east tennessee now. any reccomendations on a quiet and cool helmet?

Budget???
There are so many newer decent helmets you really can't go wrong.
The usual suspects, Bell and Giro.
Nice helmets from Lazer and Limar.
Never liked the styles from Brinko or Louis Garneau.

budget ... hmmm ... don't know, under a hundred bucks would keep the CFO (aka my wife) from raising flags. i guess i should get my behind into the LBS and try a few.
Hi,
I use a Bell Ghisallo. Poke around and you can find them on sale. I think maybe Supergo has some on sale.

I am quite pleased with the Bell Furio.

my giro eclipse makes no noise... has good cooling
biggest tip for buying helmet i think is to find older models... new eclipse is 79.99... close out 02 eclipse is 49.99
i compared my 04 eclipse with my friends 02 eclipse... guess what? they are identi-fricking-cal... every vent to every tiny minute little sticker placement/color/size

I also recommend the Bell Ghisallo. Fits very well, has a super simple adjustment system, is quiet, and keeps your melon cool.
Found mine on ebay (new) for about $55.

Yeah, but trying to find older model in your size is another story. Least for my big head that is... :)

Specialized has a few models under $100, even under $50, that are well ventilated and aren't so noisy.
