Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Well, not the whole city, but they did help out one victim of a mugging attempt:

http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2004/06/290744.shtml

This cadre of PDX riders like to take the train up to the top of the hill near the zoo, then bomb down the twisty roads back into town on minibikes-hence the "Zoobombers" moniker. They've been the target of some police harassment in the past, mainly bogus tickets on the train and having their bikes confiscated once. It's a pity that local TV media aren't covering this positive story about a fun-loving group of Portlanders. Check out the link!

I would like to shake that salmon's fin.

You know that no one will believe the lady's story ... "I was being mugged and this giant salmon chased down the mugger and returned my purse...."

"Sure, grandma, a giant salmon. Oh, and a biker in drag, and both on teeny tiny bikes? Great, grandma. (Mom, just what meds is grandma on?)"

also think of the story that the crime maker will have to tell in prison. "oh, i'm tough! a fish stopped me from stealing that ladies purse!"

I guess this shoots down that myth about fish not needing bicycles.

It's not your garden-variety century. Here in Portland, we have a light rail train called the Max. Max has a stop at the Portland Zoo, which is on a hill above downtown. ZooBombers take the trip up to the zoo on the train, then bomb the steep roads back into town. Each trip is 5 miles long, so repeat twenty times for a century. On those little bikes, it's got to be a thrill. Maybe I'll give it a shot one of these days...

Tough as hell. That's what the announcements said. Only about six or eight of the 20 or 25 people who registered finished. I did five runs, and just hung out the rest of the time :D

Insert about a dozen smileyface emoticons here. Great line!
