Bicycle Mechanics - anyone ever tried to lace a 28 hole hub to a 36 hole rim?

well i think i figured it out....using a hybrid crows foot pattern.

please excuse my ugly photoshop work!

so what do you all think? hehehe

You pattern should work, but its disadvantages are several different spoke lengths (and therefore unequal spoke tensions) and a paucity of torque/pulling spokes.

Didn't I say you would need to use a crows foot pattern and it would still suck :) :(

Very interesting pattern, very thoughtful. I don't have experience with what you're trying to do, BUT, with any of my projects, I ask myself this question: how likely am I to get really hurt? When you're flying downhill +30mph, will you have confidence in that wheel? I admit I don't trust myself to jury rig a wheel.

i dont really plan on riding the wheel seriously, if it ever gets built. more of just a show wheel i guess..... although im sure it will get the occasional ride, if it gets built, if i can figure out the spoke lengths!!
