I'm looking to get my first HRM and don't know what I need. I want one that will also provide cadence, speed, avg. speed, odometer, etc. I don't need anything downloadable and brand name makes no difference. Reliability and accuracy are very important to me. I don't want to spend over $200.00 and would like a leads on hot deals available. Thanks in advance for any opinions offered.:)

I use the Polar S510 and love it... I've heard of some people having some success with the Cateye HRM... They're downloadable, but you don't HAVE to use the download feature if you don't want to. I think you can find the s510 for AROUND $200 at some shops, and I think the Cateye goes for something like $160.

Nashbar has a good deal on an older model Cardiosport HRM called the Club. Originally $190.00, they are on sale now for $50.00. Lots of features including...most importantly...user-replaceable batteries.

are you looking for a cyclo computer or a HRM? Or are you looking for a combo unit? The features you listed are those a cyclocomputer will do. If you are looking for a HRm you cant beet Performances HR600. For a combo unit- Vetta makes one now that does it all and is wireless. Not sure about cadence though.
I have had a bad experience with combo units and recommmend a good cyclocomputer and a separate HRM. That way you can use the HRM for other activities off the bike.
Hope this helps

I'm looking for a combo that will do just about everything. I really don't want two systems on my bars. I only cycle so I won't use the HRM for anything else.
The Polar S510 is the best HRM for the money. You get a brand name with warranty and service.
Another great name is Sunnto, however more costly.
Beware of low priced items and house brands. You want to make sure you get a real warranty and parts int he future.
Too many fall for low prices and hype and find out later that it may be impossible to get parts for thet unit later.
I tried the Polar A5 and the Cardiosport Heartsafe TZ. I returned both.
I purchased the Sports Instruments ECG5 (http://www.sportsinstruments.com/products/ecg5.html). This one I'm keeping!!
I don't mind having two devices (Vetta R77 and HRM) on the handlebars.;)

I use the Polar s-210 which I like a lot. It does everything you would really want a heart rate monitor to do. It does not download to a computer but I can still write so this is not a problem. I already have a computer on each of my bikes so I don't need the cycling data anyway. I use it for all my triathlon training and racing as well as XC skiing and any other cardio sport I may be participating in or for training.
I find it a very valuable tool.

If you are interested in a really good HRM and cycling computer go ahead and visit: www.ciclosport.de
There you can enter the english-site and check out all their stuff.
As I allready said, I use a HAC4 and it is marvellous.
But this item isnīt the cheapest though.
