Set off at 8am this morning to ride the 6 Hills ride. But I was feeling pretty good after topping out on Beatty, even with the strong headwind, and decided to add in Wilson. Battled a headwind all the way down to Cothrin Ranch, then got a break until after lunch. At some point it turned around and there was a headwind all the way back. Made for a really tough ride. I think I would have added in some extra miles to bring it to 100 or more if it hadn't been for the energy sapping wind.

Fun ride today. A little over 6000 feet, just shy of 85 miles, 14.1 avg.

Here's a link to the Garmin Connect stats for the ride: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/7107205

Joel, a new ride for you. Ride to Auburn on Auburn Folsom Rd. Go through Auburn to Bowman. Continue on the frontage road and turn toward Meadow Vista. Tank up on food and water. Continue on Placer Hills Road toward Colfax. Turn left on Dog Bar Road. Ride it into Grass Valley. Stop for lunch and retrace your steps.
We did it on Tuesday. 102 miles, 7380' of climbing, 16.0 avg. Dog Bar is a great road.

VG, that sounds ugly, and I bet those hills are steep. Not sure I'm ready for that. Today kicked my butt across town, but that might have been due to the wind.

Not as seep as you might think. A few are long, but nothing like the grades on 8 hills. In Avon, Co now. Rode to the top of Vail pass. About 8-9% for 7+ miles past Vail. Peaked at over 10k'. We are trashed. That is what happens to flatlanders :-). Absolutely beautiful.
