My wife and I are going to Newport RI this friday.
We are taking our bikes and planning to ride the trail that is there along the beach but there seems to be very little info about it.
Does anyone know where to go and what to do?

Great town. Lots to do.

The Ocean Drive loop is nice. I used to ride it in the winter with no traffic. Everything will be crowded, and it is a small area, so just follow the crowd.
If you want to ride, head toward Middletown and just go. The roads may be rough from the winters.

Non Cycling:
Tour a mansion.
Take a short 2 hour sail on the bay. Sunset booze cruises are great.
Thames (pronounces like an American would, not a Brit) is packed with good eats, bars, and people watching.
Check out the beaches (1st and 2nd are the best in the summer).
Bristol is a neat little town just north of Newport.
An architectural tour is a neat thing.

Wish I were going!

What SanDiegoSteve said....
Ocean Drive is a decent ride(watch out for traffic..it get's kinda dicey near Bellvue Ave.!) goes for about 11 miles. Some areas of Middletown are OK, but I'd stay away from the main roads(RT's. 138 and 114)..lots of accidents this time of year.
If you get the chance, stop by Ten Speed Spokes, my favorite bike shop(shameless plug... :D )
Here's a link: http://www.tenspeedspokes.com/index.asp
Tom(the owner) can tell you where the best places to ride are!

As others have said.....be careful...the traffic...both people and cars.... will most likely be quite heavy.
