Living Car Free - Is there a site to plug in my start/stop points & see the mileage?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm just wondering if there's some site that I can plug in where I started, my route & my stopping point to see how many miles I rode? (I realize I could just put a mileage thing on my bike, but this sounds cheaper!)

Thanks!

I use Gmaps Pedometer (http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/) it has a cycling specific routing feature. There are several others out there, but that is the one I use most often.

I don't want to know how far I ride...until after it is over:p. And most of the time I could care less.;)

The computer works fine, but I had two of them. They kept falling off my bike. For the price, you could apply a little duct tape around the bottom...

I'm not sure if that's the same Schwinn computer I have or not. But on mine, when the battery goes dead, it also loses the total odometery reading, unlike some of the more expensive ones- the major drawback I see to it.

Occasionally, when I ride a bike without a computer, I'll check it on mapmyride. Google maps work fine, but it can be hard to get a bike route selected if you don't follow the most direct road route (IE, freeways in many cases.) Even if you select the "don't use highways" option, it will still route you onto freeways in places, I discovered.
