Hi.
Ive been looking for a decent new bike for under £200 and am considering the Barracuda Jacana. It has disc brakes at the front and back, which i have heard to be very poor quality; would it be possible to upgrade these to some hydraulic disc brakes? I know it isn't a great bike but I will be using it for some road use and some basic off road use. If you would advise against this bike, could you possibly point me to a new bike (parents won't let me get a second hand one ) that has a decent frame and the possibility to upgrade. Thank you very much for your help.

Just look for a better bike wirh better components rather than upgrade that thing, it needs too many "upgrades" before it's even worthy of better brakes (and could need new shifters too if that bike has combined brake lever/shifter units as hydraulic brakes use their own levers). Don't put lipstick on a pig.
