Northeast - Looking to do the Pine Creek trail is July

I'm planning on doing the whole trail in one day from north to south. I'm thinking sometime in July. Anyone else interested?

Wow! That sure is WAY out west in PA. Is there any public transportation (i.e. AMTRAK) that heads out that way from Manhattan?

Great Trail, ridden it a number of times. I live about 70 miles from the Northern Terminus near Wellsboro, Pa. I once traveled that area extensively in the course of a job I had many years ago.
There is no public transportation to the area, except for possibly a bus.
North to South is probably the easiest way to ride it, but if you are planning an overnight at the southern end in Jersey Shore, last I knew there wasn't much available for lodging in that town. Lock Haven and Williamsport are options, with Lock Haven being the easiest to get to.
The first 27 miles of the trail doesn't have food available, but rest room faciliites are ~every 6 miles. The section of the trail from Blackwell to Jersey shore goes thru some small villages that have a taveran or General store with eats available.
The trail surface on the new sections is Hard packed cinder/crushed rail ballast and can be ridden with skinny tires, but if you can use 25mm or larger. The oldest section from Ansonia to Rattlesnake rock is looser cinder, it can be ridden with road tires, but it demands a bit more attention when doing so.
It's very scenic in the canyon and beyond. There are various views and surrounding terrians along its 100km length. I'm partial to the lower end more toward Jersey shore. The newest section Starting at Route 287 near Wellsboro is rather neat too, with miles of Rail Fence along the trail.

I hope to do the trail in two days in August or September. Do the leaves start changing in September up there?

The last few years the leaves have been changing in early October. The last couple years they just seem to have "given up" because the first frost is so late. If you plan on staying in the area on the weekend, make your reservations soon, between Leaf peepers and hunters the hotel rooms go fast.

We rented a cabin for August 21st and 22nd. I am planning on doing this either on the 22nd or 23rd. My wife and I did 40 miles on the tandem this past Sunday starting from the lower end.

Hmm, that's the weekend I'd planned on riding it. I should be heading up to Wellsboro on the 21st. I plan on 30 mile days and camping, and then getting shuttled back to my car.

Our cabin is a little north of Rt6. I'm planning on riding it on Saturday unless the weather is bad.

Black Walnut Bottom has some pretty good campsites. Camping is free (permit from Tiadaghton State forest required) and it's right off the trail. The water pump was broken when I was there last (April).

I think the DCNR disabled the water pumps along the trail. However along the route except for the ~18 miles at the north down in the canyon there are small villages and stores along the way to beg or buy water.

I am planning to do this trail myself on or around August 11.

I rode the whole trail this weekend. Our cabin was 7 miles from the northern end. My son and I did a ride north and back to the cabin on Friday night on the tandem (15 miles). On Saturday I rode from the cabin to the Jersey Shore end (56 miles) then back north to the next parking lot where my wife picked me up (3 miles).
