NOT SO FAST! Here's the deal.
I have a Sakae CX crank I'm trying to take the outer ring off. The plastic?or are these really really soft aluminum bolts strip way to easy. Unless these are lefty tighty threaded, or does anyone know the exact size or at are these metric or standard? (84 Raleigh olympian)
Worse case scenario I'll drill them out, and then can I just go to a hardware store and get some nuts and bolts (it may be ghetto but thats fine, otherwise is this a really bad idea?), also providing my lbs doesn't have a replacement. I doubt I'll find something at a hardware store that will thread in.

you have to hold the back of the chainring bolt still using a special tool. You shuold be able to get one from your LBS for like 5 bucks, and it will help w/ this task. You also might be able to use a wide flathead screw driver.
Anyways, hold the back of the chainring bolt sitll, and then unscrew (lefty loosey) the front of the chainring bolt w/ an allen wrench. Definitely not plastic bolts.

I was being sarcastic about the plastic bolts.
There is nothing on the back that I can hold or no slot for the chainring bolts, and thats not even the problem. Its just that the bolt head is so shallow, and when I try to loosen it, they just get rounded off, so before I do any further damage I wanted to ask around if I'm missing something.
Do you know if the lbs would have replacement bolts for this?

well they could just be stripping. If that's the case, get out those crappy bolts and go to your LBS to buy new ones. They should definitely have some chainring bolts lying around.
Because you are removing a chainring, you would have needed new chainring bolts anyways. Single chainring bolts are more shallow than chainring bolts for doubles or triples. So, you're not really losing anything by drilling them out. Also, if you LBS doesn't have them, Ben's Cycle sells FG/SS chainring bolts for $5/set.
