i grinded off the kickstand of my schwinn world traveller project (heavy & useless) but also took away part of its skeleton. most older road bikes have some kind of support there, but i have seen a few that dont. now the frame is steel, but am wondering if anyone thinks this could be an issue...

I just chopped one also and didn't give it much though. I'm not sure the kickstand plate was there to give much structure... I'm unsure though.

Well, I looked at a couple of my steel bikes. Some have a support in this spot, some don't.
If you are worried about it, tack a small piece across there.
Me, I wouldn't worry about it.

You should be fine.

you'll be fine. regular road bikes don't have this anyway. it was just something cheap and easy to bolt the stand onto.
