Road Cycling - Edinburgh/Borders in September ... places to rent bicycles?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm finally headed back home for a vacation after not having visited for 8 years. Since I'm taking the whole family, I'll need a day or two on my own to blow off some steam! I was thinking of looking to rent a bicycle to get some miles in. Preferably, I'd like to rent a road bike. Anyone know of a decent place to rent in the Melrose area? I've dealt with Edinburgh Bicycle Coop before via the web but don't want to go all the way into Edi if I can avoid it just to rent some wheels. Should I take my shoes and pedals (ATACs) or just rent whatever they have? Any advice would be appreciated!

Enjoy your trip ;)

No problem! It has been a long time since I went back home. I'm looking forward to taking my eldest son to all the old castles that I used to visit when I was a child. I just thought it would also be nice to ride around the borders a bit too. It's funny that when you have something you enjoy that becomes a pretty important part of your day-to-day existence, the thought of having it interrupted is annoying - even when it is a vacation!
