Triathlon - Training Plan

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

What do you find to be most successful training method for you? Do you find that training twice in one day (maybe biking then running later in the day) and taking more rest days (2-3 per week) to be more effective then training one event each day while having only 1 recovery day per week. Or do you just train 2 times daily while only allowing 1 day of recovery. What do you find to be most effective?

this is my first season, and I've had the benefit of some great coaches.
however, I've been training 6 days/week, with at least 1 day being a recovery/lighter workout and 1 being a brick. after saturday, I'll be able to tell you if this has been effective :)

You're going to have to figure that out for yourself. Many triathletes do "two a days" but maybe that won't work for you. Try some stuff out, see how fast you recover & go from there.
If you are doing two workouts per day - make sure you have at least 5 hours between them. Only one of them should be a "hard" workout, the other should be an easier type workout.

I do 6 days a week, with one rest day.
One of those 6 days usually includes a "two a day" where I'll do one workout in the morning and another in the afternoon. (usually swimming in the AM and biking in the PM) One other day usually includes a bike/run brick.
