Mountain Biking - Specialized Enduro Shocks

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

This must be very strange. All my friends are having issues with their Enduro bike's shocks. Either front, or rear. Any known issues with specialized shocks? I am talking about the years 2007 and 2008.
These are all mountain (Enduro) bikes. I am talking about 5 nikes that I know about these issues.
Anyone knows anything about it????

The dual crown specialized forks suffer from bad cartridges in them. The rear shocks minus the brain shock found on the epics have a history of getting locked down when bottomed out.
I have an 08 Enduro Carbon. I had it 9 months with no issues front or rear. Then the front fork travel adjust quit - Specialized sent a new cartridge, no questions asked. Then the compression stopped working, anther cartridge - didn't really seem to fix the compression problem. That was going into the winter. This Spring I got on them again about the cartridges - Specialized sent 2 new - one for each leg. When the old cartridges were pulled they were a different design than the new. Re-installed and the fork works great. Specialized has a warranty replacement for their suspension components for 5 years - each issue I have had they second day- aired the parts.
My thoughts are: The rear has been fine no issues.
The front - when working it is the best performing fork (for it's intended purpose) that I have ever used - and I've used a few. But I think Specialized jumped the gun on releasing this fork - probably a year or 2 too early, Needed more R&D - the new cartridges are supposed to fix that - we'll see. They have stood behind their product.
