I have LX v-brakes on the tandem. On the pivots for the parallelogram arms for the brake block there were small round metallic stickers. These stikers cam off and while riding today I noticed the pivot (loose round bush) slipping out of the brake arm. How do I stop them form slipping out. Can these stickers be purchased sperately. If I loose a pivot/bush while cycling my brakes will be useless. I see this as a very dangerous situation and a "bad" design by Shimano. Any help will be appreciated.

The stickers as far as I know are not a vital part that holds any brake part together. Anyway which version of the brake do you have?

They're just stickers. Perhaps if you post a photo

Yeah, post a pic if you can. Can't imagine a brake setup that depends on something staying put with just a decal. For the time being, that sticker couldn't have been able to do anything that a bit of electrical tape or duct tape can't do.

I tried to get a pic but quality was bad. I will post a pic over the weekend but I seem to have solved the problem myself. In my rush to blame Shimano for a bad design I failed to notice the grub nuts in the body of the V-brake that holds the pivot bushes in place. There is a small groove on the bush that is engaged by the grub nut. Still dangerous as the grub nut (and the metallic sticker!!!!) is the only thing keeping the bush from falling out. Hate to think what would happen if the grub nut would loosen on a downhill!!!! Will post a pic as soon as I can.

Keep those wheels spinning!!!!

Be careful, that's a load bearing sticker.

Sorry, that was a joke from the simpsons tv show when they rebuilt one of the characters' houses and it was so shoddy that the wall to one of the bedrooms was held up by a poster. Then the kid went to tear the poster down, one of the builders said, "that was a load bearing poster," and the thing crumbled. :)

Annnnyways, I think maybe by sticker you meant a washer? I've seen really thin washers that someone could mistake for a "metallic sticker".

Sorry!!! I do not watch the Simpsons.

No it was not a washer, it was a black metallised sticker. See the pic (not very good quality) The bottom bushing showed (actually both bushings) was covered with this sticker ,most presumely to keep dust and grime out. The only thing holding the brakes together is the "grub nut" or set screw. This engages in the groove shown and keeps the bushing form sliding out. I hope the photo explains. It is shown with the

you mean the one covering the hole?

If you're concerned about dirt going in there..
i hate to say this... but i guess duct tape would fix this... :)

or, you can get some cool stickers from the art shop...

I don't think the stickers hold anything though.. it just covers the hole...
