Introductions - Hi from Boston

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm a California Bay Area native, Boston resident. I unfortunately don't know a whole lot about bikes besides that I like to ride em, so I'll probably be badgering a lot of you for answers to my questions! I hope you don't mind and will be gentle to this little newbie!
Thank you in advance!

Welcome to Bike Forums. Don't worry about asking questions here. Everyone is super nice for the most part. Kick back and enjoy the forums. Foo is a fun forum to check out. Alot of wild and wacky humor there.

Welcome to Boston and environs; I love riding in and around this town. I'm a year round commuter from Kenmore Square downtown to Norwood 14 miles southwest of Boston and an ocasional centurian. IMO, there is a pretty large Boston contingent on Bike Forums, notably commuters and recreational road cyclists. Where are you located and what kind of cycling do you do, or want to?

Hi Jim and thanks for the welcome! I'm currently living a few blocks from Porter Square, and have been interested in first getting back into weekend pleasure riding on a friend-given hybrid (specialized crossroads), and then eventually graduating to commuting when I move back to CA this Sept.
Since the bike I have now is only on loan I'm looking into getting myself a new (to me) bike... though I love the ease of riding a hybrid I maintain a perverse obsession with road bikes. I rode my uncles old one when I was a kid but gave it back after I fell off and hurt myself. Since then Ive both admired and feared them. ;)
