Hi
I did my first race and the laps were 6km each... did 3 laps and finished but not happy with how I did...about half the course was a climb
climbing has always been a weaker point of mine being over 200lbs so I picked up hillacious and was wonder how well the workouts translate to improving ones ability to climb? obviously I also plan on dropping weight as the season progresses
I was thinking of adding in one hill training day a week to start and see how my ability improves

I can't speak to the Hillacious DVD, but I've had good results with Spinervals overall. My advice will sound like anyone else's: do hills early and often. Joe Friel has some good hill workouts in his book.
Hill repeats are great -- not only do you build your climbing legs, but you lose whatever anxiety you have about doing certain hills. It's the difference between "man, that was hard" and "man, that was hard -- I'm going to do it again".

I'm gonna use this DVD on really crappy wet days when I can't ride outside
then do the rest of my repeats outdoors on the road....I believe i do have some physical limitations but also mentally since it's been my weak point I'm almost accepting defeat
but my goal is to kill hills

If you can, find a group ride that does hills and has riders a little faster than you are. It's much easier to push yourself when you are chasing other riders than when riding by yourself.

Yeah I'm in the process of looking for a group
I'm new to road biking and can average 24km/h on my own so I'm going on a group ride Monday (paced at 20-25km/h) now that mountain bike short track is done here and hopefully meet a few people up or a hilly ride once or twice a week.

I have used the Hillacious CD and to be honest I found a 2x20 interval workout did more for my climbing than the DVD. I would try two interval workouts per week - one 2x20 and one 4x5.
I suppose it would depend on what length of hills are in your area. Around here they can be 1-3 miles long.
