Hi ppl,

I just got a Dahon Mariner D7 from Brands Cycle in Long Island and also a first time owner of a folder bike. When I ride the Mariner, I hear a click/clack noise while peddaling. I think its coming from the back shifting mechanism (sorry for lack of terminology). It sounds like its between gears or something. Is this normal?

When I ride it stays in gear and doesn't pop out or anything, but its just that noise its driving me nuts!

Thanks in advance!

new chain , new sprocket , new everything ..sometimes it needs a couple miles ( like 30 to 50 ) to seat and works smoothly ..after that it should work fine

adjustment go to the second smallest cog than turn the pedals with the wheel off the ground...
adjust the little barrel adjuster on the derailleur or on the shifter 1/4 turn up or down so ther is no noise ... should work fine than

Yes, it should be fairly quiet, so get it fixed up. I found the drivetrain on my Mariner to be less than stellar, so don't be surprised if you have minor issues no matter what you do....

Seconding brakemeister's suggestion to adjust the barrel adjuster. My Mariner would constantly go out of whack for the first few months I had it, but I think that happens with all new bikes with derailleurs, so it's nothing to worry about.
