hey guys,
I was wondering if it is normal to have scratch marks around the rim made by my brakes. If you get them is it bad for your rims? Do i need to replace my rims?

So if any of you guys know please reply.
Thanks

Not really, only if the scratches are deep. The scratches are normal, caused by sand getting between the pads and the rim.

The black marks can decrease braking performance. You'll need to clean the rims, but don't use an oil.

Tiny bits of aluminum from the rims can get stuck in your pads, sometimes even building up to chunks that are about 1 or 2mm in size. These obviously scratch the crap out of the rim
