General Cycling Discussion - Strength Training and Cycling - What do YOU Do?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have been in and out of a number of forums related to endurance sports (Cycling, Running + triathlon) and have noticed that there are any number of opinions on Strength training and Endurance sports.

I have also noticed that there are always numerous of recommendations of what should be done (often without much agreement), so my questions to all of you are:

1: DO YOU INCORPORATE STRENGTH TRAINING INTO YOUR S-B-R PROGRAM

2: WHAT ACTIVITIES / EXERCISES DO YOU USE IN YOUR SESSIONS?

3: WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR RESOURCES / PROGRAMS FROM?

4: WHERE DO YOU DO YOUR STRENGTH TRAINING SESSIONS (AT HOME, GYM ETC?)

I appreciate your thoughts and insights - Thank you.

Answers below:

1: DO YOU INCORPORATE STRENGTH TRAINING INTO YOUR S-B-R PROGRAM I used to quite a bit, but due to lack of time, I cut out weightlifting for now.

2: WHAT ACTIVITIES / EXERCISES DO YOU USE IN YOUR SESSIONS? Squats, lunges, lat pull downs, seated rows, weighted sit ups

3: WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR RESOURCES / PROGRAMS FROM? Joel Friel's book - The Triathlete's Training Bible

4: WHERE DO YOU DO YOUR STRENGTH TRAINING SESSIONS (AT HOME, GYM ETC?) Home. I hate gyms with a passion. I'm kind of a germaphobe so I can't stand to lie down onto a stranger's perspiration (I know gyms require people to wipe it up, but in reality, they're really smearing the sweat over the surface of the machine.) Also, I don't usually like to listen to the music played at most gyms because most of it sounds like crap.
