Northern California - NorCal East. Sunday, Ride around the lake

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Sunday I'm planning a ride around Folsom Lake. We'll take the ARBT to Iron Point, up Iron Point and over the hill, left on Empire Ranch to Green Valley. Right on Green Valley to Salmon Falls, and then the fun begins!
Rolls out from Hagan Park in Rancho a little after 8am.
Edit to add: I rode this last August and had to stop a LOT on the Old Forest Hill climb to rest. I'm interested to see how much my fitness has improved. I'm thinking I won't have near the trouble I had last year. This will be fun!
Anyone interested?

Uggh! I will only have free time on the afternoon of Father's Day since we now have to go to my wife's uncle's funeral that morning. Dangit! Open casket grossout too! :o Why didn't they leave the feeding tube in for another week so we'd be in Hawaii when he passed? Totally kidding about 99% btw :innocent:
I won't be free until the end of July after Sunday afternoon. I really would love to weasel out of it but am about 90% sure I can't.
Sounds awesome, and I really really want to do that loop, but I can't make it this time, I'm racing this weekend :D

Good luck with your race! Just don't burn all your matches too early. :innocent:

We're undecided. I'm racing on Saturday, the Diablo Time Trial, and Chris hasn't decided how he wants to celebrate Father's Day. We'll let you know if we're in.

I hope you decide to join in.

What's the distance on this?
I'd like to, theoretically, but I don't think I'd feel confident jumping up too far past the 35 I've done.

This is about 80 miles with a fair bit of climbing.

Heh...well, hopefully before too long.
I've been able to bump up by 5 miles a pop at each long ride, so I think I'm probably doing well under what I can do, but still getting used to the bike.

It's a tough ride too. Coming out of Cool is an amazing, scary as hell experience. Riding up Old Foresthill Rd. is hot but it's a great climb.
Joel - make sure to take some time down at the Confluence to make sure all the pretty girls are exhibiting good safety habits near that rushing water. Look for me too - I'll be up there on my mountain bike, not sure if we're starting from the Confluence or somewheres else.

Matt, that's an interesting thing to check for. I'll make a note of it.
I'll post up about how it goes too. I don't expect I'll have to stop on Old Foresthill to breathe this time :twitchy:
