Try www.sportzoutdoor.com/ or call (505) 837-9400. THey can help with rides and rentals. Even better is http://www.nmts.org/ for rides in Oct. If you are there the first week of Oct, there is always a ride during the balloon fiesta. Very cool to ride and see 800+ balloons in the air.

oops, the Balloon fiesta is in Albuquerque, but it is only a 60 minute drive from Santa Fe.

These folks have weekly rides.
And if your wife wants to head out without you...there is always the Pedal Queens http://pedalqueens.com/
Have fun and the weather should be fantastic!

Hi
I see that you haven't gotten many responses regarding rides in Santa Fe. I used to live there in the early eighties when it was a fairly bike unfriendly place. I was even cut off once by a kid who had a " I brake for bicycles" bumper sticker, roaming dog packs were also a big problem. When I went back this summer I saw that they are attempting to be more bike friendly.
In practice, however, downtown Santa Fe should probably be avoided by someone that doesn't know their way around, the roads are not good and there is often little or no shoulder. When I read that you will be there in October I thought the road to the ski basin would be great, it is beautiful in the Fall, and all of the rest of the year, but it is a steep uphill climb. The ride I had my eye on when I was there is Old Santa Fe Trail and Old Las Vegas Highway. On old Las vegas Highway you can find Harry's Roadhouse (great for breakfast) and Bobcat bite (famous for their burgers). They may be a better choice for a flatlander. I stayed at a friend's house in town just off Old Santa Fe Trail and there was a bike shop right around the corner ... Velo something. I never had time to stop in but I looked at the website, they had rentals but were too expensive for my budget. I tried to borrow a bike from one of my friends but none were available, working, etc. and I just ran out of time.
Enjoy!
