I need to get from South Barrington to Huntley. Is Huntley Road decent to ride on, or do you recommend another road?

Where about in Huntley? It can be busy. Although, I haven't gone down it in several years.

If you're up for a more scenic, fun ride, take River road into Algonquin. Cross the fox on the sidewalk. go down 31 until you catch Huntington (the hill climb hill) ride up that and cross 62 at Crystal Lake road just east of Randall. Snake through lake in the hills (there are some hills, and a lake) until you shoot out on Randall at Miller road. From there you want to wind out to Haligus to Conley to Foster which will cross 47.

After crossing 47 you should be able to find a route that safely shoots down into just about anywhere in Huntley.

Speaking of Huntley... Anyone who uses Powers Road to cut up from Big Timber should know that Powers is all ripped up the last 1/4 mile before it gets to 47. I had to walk across a bunch of construction area last time I was there.

I hope they rebuild the road when they put whatever big box store in that they are putting up. That's a great road with almost no traffic.

Yeah, it's right at the sharp right / sharp left combo.

I had to ride home down Big Timber. Not the worst fate, but traffic is way busier/faster there.

Le suck. Powers is the bomb.

Although the road closed signs are still up, they have the basic blacktop down to ride through the west end of Powers to 47.

And the short stretch of rough pavement by the Del Web Admin building has been paved heading into the subdivision.

Powers is once again viable.
