I know this sounds dumb...but I can't figure out how to insert a picture. I can make a link for one in the manage downloads function but not insert one into the body of my post. After pressing the insert image button I get the prompt but where do I direct it?
Confused

Go 'advanced' button lower, click it.
Then selact 'manage attachments'.
'Browse' to find the file on your computer. Click 'upload' then close window.
Yer done.

That much I've figured out. It opens the picture in a new window. Its inserting the pic into the body of the post I can't figure out.

So when the pictures are on my hard drive, do I put the path where you have a web address?

When I click manage attachments, no window pops up. What gives?
I also don't see an advanced button, only guided and enhanced radio buttons.

You need an image editing program so that you can either resize them or compress them. In Photoshop when you save in the .jpg format, it will give you a slider control and show you the file size so that you know how much to move the slider.
See if you can find a program or 2 and start playing with it.

Gimp (http://www.gimp.org/) is free and should do what you need and then some.
Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com/) is also free.

So what of the hard drive question? Would 'hard drive path' work?

I like http://www.imageshack.us/ once you upload the picture to their free site it gives you the exact posting line to post on the forums.

No, the image needs to be online for [IMG] code to work.

To add an example for the initial poster, I too wasn't sure (and found this thread). I added the attachment, then copied the shortcut to paste in the IMG tag. Which wasn't correct. You only need to upload the pic as an attachment. here's how my post turned out (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?p=590799#post590799)
Please excus me for this test :)
Testing photo attachment - sorry and thanks.

Test 2, Maybe because I used pop blockup in the previous post http://us.f2.yahoofs.com/users/4154...h5oVVBBIKPJ5_eZ why the picture did not turn up.

Can any one tell me what happened? I was able to upload pictures with no problem. After installed A9.com and endable "block popup" I could only upload URL of the pictures. After disabled "popup block" I got like in the TEST 3. Need your help.

Test1 doesn't work for me. I get "page cannot be displayed." Is the URL path valid?
Test2 and Test3 images seem to have the same properties so I don't think the popup blocker is an issue.
If you can paste the URL in the address line of your browser and go to it then placing it within image tags should work.

May be it's the YahooPhoto does not allow other to see the picture. I had no problem seeing Test 1 picture. This time the picture was from other souece.

Perhaps this is obvious, if so, forgive me.
There are two ways I know of to post an image in a regular message:
1. Upload the image from your hard drive or cd or floppy to BikeForums.net server using the "manage attachments" button, browsing until you find the file on your computer, then clicking upload *the image must be smaller than 100K). The image will appear as a thumb nail at the bottom of whatever message you have also written. You may post several pictures as long as each is less then 100K.
2. You may place a link to a picture available somewhere on the web (i.e., you personal web page) by using the "Insert Image" button at the top of the "advanced" posting menu, the yellow square right below the size/color choice boxes. Hopefully, a picture will appear wherever you have placed the IMG.
Here is an example from the Google picture index. This is a *.gif file:

Here is one from my personal web page. This is a *.jpg image

Here are some from the Santa Fe Century uploaded from my hard drive on my own computer. However, if you upload larger pics sometimes ??? they do not appear to show as thumbnail, but as an internal link with Joe's server.

You need to put the [ /IMG] tags around your jpg Denver:

I used the IMG program, and somehow they didn't take! In other words, I clicked on the "insert image" icon, entered my url, but somehow it failed to place the [IMG] there automatically. This is the 2nd time this has happened to me. Oh well!
Okay, it worked this time. Perhaps I clicked the wrong icon?
