I'm going there from September through December. Would love to meet up with some locals to find the good riding spots / routes. Also looking for more info on the velodromi.

Cheers. I didn't notice this until now, have been away for Midsummer holidays.

You're looking for road cycling routes, right? Cannot help you much with personal experience, I'm more of a commuter/tourer myself. There are lots of paved two lane curvy roads within 100 km radius from Helsinki. I hear the old roads towards Porvoo and Hämeenlinna are quite popular among road cyclists (currently majority of cars on these directions are on the newer 4 lane motorways where cycling is forbidden) and I've seen quite a few heading west on the major road to Hanko.

Helsinki Velodrome is run by the City of Helsinki, see their web site (http://www.hel.fi/wps/portal/Liikuntavirasto_en/Artikkeli?WCM_GLOBAL_CONTEXT=/Liv/en/sports+facilities/sports+parks/velodrome) for contact info.

If you plan to ride during evenings, you will need lights in Sep-Dec. In November-December there will likely be some ice or maybe snow on ground too, at least temporarily. I'm not sure if the velodrome is open year round.
