And this is what the pic in the ad showed:

Tadaah!

:roflmao2:

And - it was a PITA to get this one. I had to drive a whopping 400 miles to pick it up .

But I think it was worthwhile.
It's a very early SB, should be from 1975 (SBDU [I][= Specialist Bicycles Development Unit] opened late 1974 and put out around 1,000 bikes in their best years, nearly 10,000 in total 'til late 80s).
It's got the very characteristic early fork crown and seatstay treatment that were used just for a short period, from about SB 600 on they used flat crowns and those well known flat protruding seatstay caps.
But the most important fact is: it's got exactly my size, 63 cm. Perfect.

And it seems to be in quite good condition. I just hope nothing's cracked like on so many other SBDU bikes (maybe they didn't build 'em sooo well, after all ?).
At least it hasn't been raced or abused in any other way, maybe that is the reason why so many SBDU bikes are wrecked.

It came equipped with ...
... trust me, you don't want to know :p. Quite ordinary stuff.

More pictures as soon as doable (and as I still don't have enough time for bikes ATM, that could take a bit ...).

It's probably built with 531, right? Based on the chrome on the fork (753 = no chrome). If that's the case, it should be crackless, as it was the early 753 that had the durability issues (especially at the chainstay/BB junction, if I recall.) It wasn't the build quality that was at fault, it was the cutting-edge tubing.
Anyway, super nice score, and well worth the drive, IMO.

I'd like to know what the owner was trying to get away with, re: fender OVER rack...

Fender and rack are two things I would never expect to see on an SB Team Pro. Hopefully it didn't have a kickstand mounted too.

I kinda like the whole rear of that thing. It's got a little lock on it too, Euro style. Kinda funky, maybe not appropriate for the bike. Suicide levers, too.

Glad you got it, show us it again when you are done...

and the front wheel isn't locked in.

If bikes were alive, this one would have had every right to go on strike against it's previous owner.

atleast they were using it though.. maybe they even saved it from a horrible fate too.. as much as I admit this rider would very definitely have been better suited with a different bike.

this is a true candidate for a really thorough "before and after" photo documentation...congrats and best of luck on it!
