Brief results for today's mountainous stage show Jan finishing 4th, after three soloists. He's still #1 in the GC. Tomorrow's uphill finish will be interesting, and also the final TT. Jan looks to be rounding into form - I'll be especially interested in seeing his results tomorrow and in the final TT.

He finished on the wheel of third place, in a group of 10 or so riders. (this shows that he wasn't attacking)

It looks like nobody wants to win, like in the Dauphine.

Yeah, I noticed that. It seems like no one wants to make a failed attack, for fear of perceived weakness. There is a lot of gamesmanship going on. Everyone wants to have the "Well, I wasn't really trying that hard" excuse to use, in case of a poor showing. For some of them it's true, for some it isn't. We'll see which are which soon...

"On paper", I think the Dauphine and Tour de Suisse could be great races. (and the stage profiles are great)
I would love to have TV coverage of the Volta a Catalunya. The course looks excellent and the racing appears to be just as good.

Umm... why should he attack?
He's leading the race.
Usually that means its up to the others to attack him.

Anyone looking at the pics coming out of the Tour Suisse? Ullrich is looking lean and mean. Looks like he's getting some climbing legs too, 4th on today's mountain stage. It will be interesting to see his result from the TT. If he tries, I think he can spank everyone quite nicely. Even if he doesn't go full out I still see him possibly winning it. I agree that the Dauphine, Suisse, Cataluna could be, and indeed should be, great races on their own. Anyone know if they will be put in a different place on the calendar with the pro tour setup next year? Too many riders are using them as final training jaunts for the tour and thus no one really wants to go hard, at least none of the big tour guys. Some big names are showing what they can do, mayo, rasmussen, but too many are not. Even smaller guys on the bigger teams seem to be riding below full out because they dont want to tire themselves out if they get on their teams tour roster.

Yeah, why should he attack? Good question. He didn't. What's your point? I just mentioned that because rygreen made it sound like Ullrich finished on his own, or that he finished leading a group along.

I was looking at some of the photos- great mountain scenery from today's stage! ALso, on the official site www.tds.ch, you can see some tv images.

Jan is looking good. Whatever weight he had he seems to have lost during this race!
